Loremaps is a community-built archive of world lore — hauntings, cryptids, UFOs, folk legends, curses, and local myths — where every story is pinned to the real-world place it belongs to. Zoom out to see the legends of a whole region; zoom in to find the haunted house on your street.

Anyone can browse the map and read every article for free. A free account lets you add your own lore, comment, vote, and favorite the stories you love.

Local legends usually live in scattered forum posts, out-of-print books, and family memory — hard to find and easy to lose. Loremaps gives them a single home tied to the map, so the lore of a place stays discoverable for the people who live there and the travelers passing through.

Every article carries a popularity vote and a separate accuracy vote. Accuracy — the community’s read on how credible and well-sourced a story is — feeds the ranking that decides which pins surface, so well-documented lore rises rather than the loudest.

Anyone can report an article, comment, or Topic. Content that gathers enough independent reports is automatically hidden pending review, and human moderators make the final call. Authors of removed content can appeal.

Lore at private homes is shown with rounded, fuzzed coordinates — the map reveals the neighborhood, never the exact address. Public places use exact coordinates.

Loremaps is a solo project — built, run, and paid for by one software engineer who loves local lore, operating as Slurp Labs LLC. There’s no company or investors behind it; the free website runs on ads, and Premium is how people who enjoy the project can support it directly.
