At La Galbaudière, in Vallet, a servant girl accidentally caused the death of her master's child after failing to watch over him. Afraid to admit the truth, she lied about the cause of his death.
A few nights later, a supernatural haire (a beast's skin) came to take her away. She was forced to join the Chasse-galerie (Wild Hunt), running at night with the garous (werewolves) and barking like a dog.
At the Rochettes crossroads, villagers heard the werewolves gather and count themselves before disappearing into the night.
After several months, the girl revealed that she could be freed: a man had to strike her with a pitchfork as she passed with the hunt, making her bleed. A servant who loved her followed her instructions and broke the curse.
