A house on Impasse Saint-Clément in Nantes was reputed to be haunted during the nineteenth century. According to local accounts, taps turned on by themselves, strange noises echoed through the house, and other unexplained phenomena terrified its occupants.
The disturbances became so serious that exorcist priests were called in, and even the Bishop of Nantes is said to have personally intervened.
