The first inhabitants of Brière were said to have been enormous giants known as “Les Vieux” (“The Old Ones”). These powerful beings lived in an ancient forest that once covered the marshes. They possessed magical powers and came out during stormy nights to wage terrible battles, using “thunder stones” as weapons.
One of their most famous battles took place at Pondo (Pont-d'Os), where the giants fought amid thunder and storms, leaving behind the echoes of their supernatural struggles
