Seven Bridges park is a beautiful trial in South Milwaukee which is also said to by some to be haunted.
The entrance of this trail features a massive bridge reading "Enter this wild wood and view the haunts of nature," and ultimately leads to a bluff and a small beach overlooking Lake Michigan. Strangely, the trail has a grand total of nine bridges rather than seven.
After dark, one can witness multicolored ghost lights/will-o'-the-wisps/swamp angels, as well as ghostly footsteps, whispers, and the apparition of a woman in white.
Normally I don't include personal anecdotes in my write-ups on legends, but once on this trail I personally noticed a strange phenomenon. As I approached the bluff, something seemed off to me. After a moment, I realized it was too quiet. Normally on this trail, as you approach the bluff, you hear the sounds of the waves crashing against the beach, but on that day there was nothing.
When I got to the beach itself, I saw that Lake Michigan (or at least, as much of the lake as I could see from the Seven Bridges trail, was completely and totally becalmed. Not a single wave or ripple broke the surface. It was a surreal experience, as I have never witnessed the Lake Michigan coast completely becalmed like that, either before or after.
I've been on this trail twice after dark. So far, I've not seen any lights or apparitions yet, just a few groups of teenage stoners, which are especially prevalent on the Seven Bridges trail after dark it seems.
